Delhi: Ashram Chowk woes deepen after two days of rain

PWD begins work on Ashram flyover extension, traffic snarls may worsen

The construction will worsen snarls on Ring Rd at Maharani Bagh and Kilokari, both about 150m away from the main Ashram intersection

Never-ending mess at Ashram Chowk

Even during non-peak hours, vehicles at the Ashram intersection, which was already the Capital’s biggest choke point, are seen waiting in traffic snarls for hours only to cross the junction.

Traffic to be restricted at Ashram Chowk towards Bhogal for two nights till Thursday

With the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) carrying out urgent repair works on a pipeline leak at the Ashram Chowk, the Delhi traffic police has restricted vehicular movement from Ashram Chowk towards Bhogal on the Delhi-Mathura Road between 10pm and 6.30am from Tuesday until Thursday.

Brace for snarls as work on underpass at Ashram Chowk to begin in Sept

The PWD had written to the Delhi traffic police last month requesting them to formulate a diversion plan for the stretch.

Traffic snarls are expected to return at south Delhi’s Ashram intersection in the coming months with the Public Works Department (PWD) set to the begin construction of an underpass there next month.

Morning showers cause water-logging; traffic jams on Ring Road, Dhaula Kuan, Ashram chowk

According to details from the three civic bodies, water-logging occurred in the morning at 16 places under East Delhi Municipal Corporation, at 17 places in areas under North Delhi Municipal Corporation and at four places under the jurisdiction of South Delhi Municipal Corporation.
