In-flight connectivity to be introduced in days: Telecom secretary

In-flight connectivity (IFC) enabling passengers to make calls and access internet services on domestic and international flights in India may happen this or early next week, telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan said on Friday.

5G spectrum auctions should take place only around second half of 2019: Rajan Mathews

New telecom policy likely to be in place by July, says communications minister

Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan said the draft of the new telecom policy will be placed before the Telecom Commission -- the apex decision making body at the Department of Telecom -- in its meeting scheduled for June 29.

Early implementation of Telecom panel’s nod to in-flight connectivity: Prabhu

The Telecom Commission approved in-flight connectivity for both voice and data calls and data surfing in Indian airspace.

Civil Aviation minister Suresh Prabhu said the government will now “work towards creating the license framework” for a special category of service providers called ‘In-flight’ connectivity provider.(PTI)
