Wanted criminal Mushtaq Ali, alias Raj Ali, who attacked Bari Brahmana SHO on April 10, was being taken from Baba Bakala in Amritsar to Jammu when he tried escaping police custody and was grievously injured. He was declared dead at Govt Medical College and Hospital in Jammu.

Ridham Chadha, organiser, said, “We started organising such parades in 2019. This is the fourth parade. One parade has already been organised at Chandigarh. We planned to organise it in Punjab and we chose Amritsar to hold it. Nearly 1,000 community members are attending it”.

In a statement, Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the accused have been identified as Gurjant Singh of Sangatpura in Amritsar, Gursharan Singh, alias Gursharandeep, and Abhishek, alias Abhi, both residents of Lakhuwal in Amritsar.

The counter-intelligence (CI) wing of the Amritsar police has arrested three persons with six pistols — a 9mm Glock, two .30-bore and three country-made .32-bore pistols — and nine cartridges from their possession.
