`FB friend’ cheats IT professional of 54L

An MCom professional in Navi Mumbai was duped of ₹54.05 lakh by a Facebook friend who promised her a job in a foreign country. The accused used various tactics to make the victim transfer the money, including fake money transfer slips and tax payment requests. The police are investigating the case.

As BMC, BEST bicker over payment for bus service, children miss school

The GV Scheme school, which is run by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), provides school buses in coordination with BEST. However, buses have not been provided this academic year as the BMC has not paid BEST for their services and the file concerned is stuck in bureaucracy, according to activists.

Woman duped by man she met on matrimonial website

A 27-year-old finance professional in Mumbai was allegedly duped of ?12.5 lakh by a man she met on a matrimonial website. The man claimed to be a wealthy businessman and convinced her to transfer money to various bank accounts. The police have registered a case against him.

Mentally disabled woman kills roommate in old age home

Khar Danda Fire: NBC doctors waive off fees, surgery charges

Doctors at National Burns Centre in Mumbai have waived off their fees and surgery charges for the victims of a gas leak fire in Khar Danda, as relatives struggle to gather funds for their treatment. The Jaiswal family, including a five-year-old child, sustained severe burn injuries in the blaze, caused by a suspected gas leak. The victims are expected to remain in hospital for six to eight weeks.

2, including minor, held for stoning friend to death

Along with the 17-year-old, the other accused, Sagar Raju Kharatmal, 26, from Airoli has been arrested. The duo were friends with the victim, Jitesh Bansode.

Bansode was friends with a cousin sister of the minor and was trying to woo her, he said, adding, “The minor accused had warned him to stay away from her and they started fighting over the same. Body found near Sanpada station identified, murder suspected

Body of a 23-year-old man from Airoli, identified as Jitesh Bapu Bansode, was found with injuries on the head and body between Vashi and Sanpada railway stations. Bansode worked in housekeeping at a private firm in Rabale MIDC. His mother approached Rabale police with a missing complaint and identified his body at Vashi Municipal hospital. A case of murder has been registered with Vashi GRP and investigations are ongoing.

The fire broke out in the premises of Prashant Thermo Plastic Pvt Ltd. located at R-447, Cross Rd Number 5, MIDC Industrial Area. The company is a manufacturer and supplier of PTFE lining, process vessels, storage tanks, reaction vessels and FRP tank.
