Google I/O 2023: ChatGPT rival Bard now in India. How to use it for free
Google's Bard has removed its waitlist and is now available to users in over 180 countries.
At the most anticipated Google I/O 2023 event on Wednesday, CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that its chatbot Bard will now be available in over 180 countries. The rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT has also scrapped the mandatory waitlist to gain access.

The tech giant’s chatbot also features a host of new updates in the face of stiff competition from other AI tools.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai opened the highly anticipated Google I/O event on Wednesday in front of a limited live audience at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The tech giant's boss made major announcements focused on artificial intelligence.

In the latest announcement, Google added in a blog post, "As we continue to make additional improvements and introduce new features, we want to get Bard into more people’s hands so they can try it out and share their feedback with us. So today we’re removing the waitlist and opening up Bard to over 180 countries and territories — with more coming soon."
Considering that large language models (LLM) are still in its budding stage, the search engine giant asserted that the ‘quality standards and local nuances will be adhered to while maintaining AI principles’.
Bard, powered by Google's latest LLM PaLM 2, will now be functioning in Japanese and Korean and plans to increase support for 40 more languages. Bard can now perform coding, debugging in more than 20 programming languages, advanced math and reasoning thanks to the PaLM2 language model.
How to use Bard in India for free
1) Check out the official website of the tech behemoth’s chatbot https://bard.google.com. You will be informed that the bot is still in the beta stage
2) At the bottom right corner of the website, choose the option 'Try me'
3) Select 'I agree' at the bottom to give consent to Bard's privacy policy
4) The chatbot can be tried out for free without the hassle of a waitlist
Earlier, Bard was made available only to people in the US and UK through a waiting list. It is to be noted that since Bard is currently in the testing stage, it is prone to inaccuracies. The company has advised cross-checking the bot’s responses as ‘Bard is experimental.’
