Google CEO Sundar Pichai opened the highly anticipated Google I/O event on Wednesday in front of a limited live audience at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The tech giant's boss made major announcements focused on artificial intelligence.

1. Gmail will include a "Help me write" tool which can compose replies for users by pulling pertinent information from the message. Users can select options like "Elaborate" or "Recreate" to refine the message and make it more compelling.
2. At Google I/O event, Pichai introduced Immersive View for Maps routes. When a user wants to take a route, Maps will offer various options, and users can click on Immersive View for a photorealistic view of the route. Real-time weather updates, air quality index is coming soon to Google Maps.
3. Later this year, Google Photos will have a Magic Editor that uses semantic engineering and generative AI to enhance images.
4. Pichai launched PaLM 2, the latest version of Google's language model, which supports over 100 languages and allows for collaboration. Google announced over 25 products using PaLM 2 today.
5. Bard can now perform coding and debugging in more than 20 programming languages. Google has removed the waitlist for Bard and is opening up access to over 180 countries and territories in English.
6. Google Search is also getting an AI update. It will show more integrated search results with more details, with enhanced safety systems and diverse range of content.
