Fire breaks out at Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy sets in Hyderabad, ₹2 cr worth material gutted
A major fire broke out at the sets of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, in Hyderabad, the police said. The damage has been extensive, it added.
A major fire broke out on the sets of Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy starring popular actor and former Congress MP K Chiranjeevi at Gandipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad in the early hours of Friday, the police said. Shooting material worth over ₹2 crore was destroyed.
Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is also playing a cameo role in the film, was expected to take part in shooting at the sets on Friday. He cancelled his visit to Hyderabad, when informed about the mishap.
The Gandipet police said a massive set of a fort was constructed for the shooting at the farmhouse of Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law and producer Allu Aravind at Kokapet village of Gandipet block near Osman Sagar reservoir in the city.
The shooting went on till late hours on Thursday but the fire broke out only in the early hours of Friday. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the accident took place due to electric short circuit. By the time fire tenders were rushed to the spot, the costly shooting material on the sets was gutted completely.
The film is based on the life history of freedom fighter Vuyyalavada Narasimha Reddy. While Chiranjeevi is playing the lead role, South Indian actor Nayanatara will star as the film’s female lead. Amitabh will be seen in a brief but important role. Other popular actors such as Vijay Setupathi, Tamannaah, Jagapathi Babu and Sudeep will also feature in prominent roles in the film. While Amit Trivedi is the film’s music director, it is being directed by Surender Reddy.
