Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy teaser introduces Chiranjeevi as the legendary freedom fighter who fought the British
Ahead of Chiranjeevi’s birthday on August 22, the makers of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, a film on freedom fighter, released a teaser. Watch it here.
Ahead of megastar Chiranjeevi’s birthday on Wednesday, the makers of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, have released a teaser for the film. It is based on the legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from the Andhra region who took on the might of the British in the 1800s.
Befitting his stature as a major star, the teaser introduces Chiranjeevi as the hero that the oppressed masses have been waiting for. On expected lines, the British are shown as the colonialists oppressors, who, among other things, make Indians bend and serve as a stools for getting off a carriage, as seen in the teaser.
The teaser tells us that this is the story of an “unsung hero” and calls Reddy’s struggle against the British as “India’s first civil rebellion against the British rule”.
It may be recalled that in 1857, sepoys in garrison towns across north and east India revolted against the British. Later, a number of Indian rulers too rose up in an armed rebellion.
Meanwhile, it has been Chiranjeevi’s long-time desire to play a historic character. Earlier in 2017, on his show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, he admitted to have regretted missing out an opportunity to play legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. “It has always been my dream to play Bhagat Singh. Despite being offered the role back then, I couldn’t play it for several reasons and it was later played by several of my counterparts. It was played by several actors across languages. I regret missing out on an opportunity to play the role because I don’t think anyone wants to make a film on him today,” Chiranjeevi had said.
To be directed by Surender Reddy, the film also stars Nayanthara, Amitabh Bachchan, Jagapathi Babu, Kiccha Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah and Brahmaji.
