Sidhu’s wife takes to Facebook to back his decision to stay on Kapil Sharma show
With cabinet minister and MLA from Amritsar East Navjot Singh Sidhu maintaining that he will continue with his TV show and his work as minister will not be effected, his wife and former MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu has come out in support him through Facebook saying that undue hype was being created over the issue.
With Navjot Singh Sidhu inviting criticism for claiming he won’t quit a popular comedy talk show even after being inducted into the new Punjab cabinet, his wife and former state legislator Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu has come out in his support.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Dr Navjot said the family had no other source of income, but television, and undue hype was being created over the issue.

“Such hype has been created about Navjot earning a living from television. When I was working as an MLA, my electricity bill and tea for guests cost more. We have no other business or source of income except television. He has left 80% of shows, which included IPL, commentary, etc. Shooting for two shows (of the comedy show) takes only five hours a week and that also mostly on Saturday night. I think it is a meagre time for a non-socially active God-fearing workaholic.”
Sidhu, a cricketer-turned-politician, remained the Amritsar MP thrice on the BJP ticket. During the assembly polls, he won on the Congress ticket from the Amritsar East segment, which was earlier represented by Dr Navjot.
After assuming charge as a minister in the Congress government, Sidhu had told a reporter: “If my constituency and my people have no objection (to his returning to the TV show), what’s tickling you?”
