MC creates facebook page to get suggestions and feedback

Now, the residents can give their suggestions and feedback on Smart City project through social networking as the municipal corporation (MC) has created its facebook page - www.facebook.com/Smartcityludhiana.

The residents can give their answers to the questionnaire by visiting mygov.in where the link of Ludhiana smart city will be displayed by Friday evening as per civic body officials. Based on their suggestions and answers, the areas of priority will be decided. The MC has also finalised Ludhiana Smart City Challenge logo.

The civic body states that the suggestions and active participation is being solicited from the residents to make Ludhiana a smart city. “We cannot make it without you,” the MC wrote on its facebook page. The MC is already getting suggestion on its email - smartcity@mcludhiana.gov.in - for this project.

The MC will also post updates and photos about the meetings, workshops and other activities regarding the Smart City project on facebook page. The facebook page will also be a platform for the residents, especially youth, to post their valuable suggestions to make the city smart.

MC’s additional commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said the MC needs maximum support and cooperation from the city residents to make Ludhiana a Smart City. “Maximum involvement is solicited. Residents are permanent stakeholders in development. We want feedbacks on facebook and mygov.in.

Role of common man is important

MC commissioner GK Singh Dhaliwal said the role of the residents is very important to make the city smart.

He said the focused group discussions on issues including solid waste management, power and water supply are being conducted. He appealed to the people for maximum participation by giving their suggestions.

The consultants will also float one lakh questionnaires through workshops, meetings, competitions and other events at school, colleges and malls to have public’s suggestions and feedback. Marathon will also be organised in the city regarding this smart city project.

Online questions will be posted on mygov.in soon. The last date to answer the questions and suggestions is October 25. The answers to the questions will clarify the priority issues.

The consultant company - AECOM-IBM - will also honour the persons for giving their best suggestions. People with top three suggestions will get cash prizes `15,000, `10,000 and `5,000 respectively. Apart from this, 25 persons can win prize of Rs 1,000 each.

In the coming phase, the MC is hopeful to make it to the list of first 20 cities for the central government’s Smart City project.
