“There is nothing to worry,” he told party supporters, “We (SAD) prevail at the Centre; Harsimrat (Kaur Badal) is a minister in the Modi government," he said. He also stated that bureaucracy had worked closely with the SAD leadership in the 10 years of his regime and, thus, the people of Lambi need not worry about getting their works done.

Former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday took a whirlwind tour of his assembly constituency Lambi in Muktsar district, addressing public meetings in 13 villages, and took at dig at chief minister-designate Capt Amarinder Singh of the Congress and AAP MP Bhagwant Mann for both being fond of liquor.

“Bhagwant drinks two bottles, and Amarinder also boozes,” he quipped, while addressing a public meeting at Lal Bai village gurdwara complex.

The Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch, however, added later in Lambi that he has never made any personal attack against his political rivals unlike Congressmen and AAP leaders.

Badal said the people will now closely watch whether Amarinder Singh’s regime keeps the promises that the Congress made in its manifesto.

Badal reiterated that the SAD will lead the fight of the people of Punjab for their right over river water.
