Woman arrested for kidnap, assault of 21-year-old man in Pune

The complainant, who works as domestic help, submitted in her complaint that the booked people kicked, punched and hit Mahesh with a leather belt.  One of them, identified as Saneed Khedekar, 36, is a criminal on police records.

A woman was arrested for kidnapping, assaulting and threatening to kill a man if his mother failed to pay money. Four others were also booked for the crime.

The complainant, who works as domestic help, submitted in her complaint that the booked people kicked, punched and hit Mahesh with a leather belt.  One of them, identified as Saneed Khedekar, 36, is a criminal on police records.

While the police refused to reveal the name of the arrested woman, the complainant was identified as Usha Salunkhe, 36, and her son, the victim, was identified as Mahesh Salunkhe, 21.  

"I cannot tell you the arrested woman's name. She is in police custody till May 31. She is a money lender and takes help of other people mentioned in the case for collection of dues. We have booked her under the money lenders act," said assistant police inspector (API) Chetan More of Sahkarnagar police station, who is investigating the case.  

“The complainant had borrowed 50,000 from the arrested woman a few years ago. Salunkhe told us that she has returned the money but the money lender is asking for 10,000 more in the form of interest,” said API More.  

A case under Sections 364(a) (kidnapping for ransom), 386 (extortion), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (obscene act in public), 504 (intentional insult with an intent of provoking breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 32(b) of the Bombay Money Lenders Act, 1946 was registered against five people at Sahkarnagar police station.
