Day 2 at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2019 began with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in conversation with HT Editor-in-Chief R Sukumar on the current economic situation, GST and growth. Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, and the CMs of Punjab’s and Chhattisgarh Amarinder Singh and Bhupesh Baghel respectively took to the stage in the first half. The final half of the summit saw representatives from government such as Members of Parliament Mahua Moitra, Manish Tewari, Jamyang Namgyal, the world of fashion with Prabal Gurung, Mary Katrantzou, Manish Malhotra and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal rounding off this year’s discussions.
On the Telangana encounter and support for it, “People are getting impatient with legal delays. The faith of ordinary people on law because of this is eroding rapidly,” Congress leader Manish Tewari. “There is a need for speedy justice. Because, justice delayed is justice denied. In a session on nutrition and diets, Dr David Ludwig said that, “Drug development has robust investment, companies might put in a billion dollars, but nutrition has a smaller budget. Confusion exists because nutrition is a step child of science.” On the Indian diet Dr Ludwig said, “We need research to stop epidemics such as diabetes in India. “In studies, where you eat too much, the problem is that people lose interest in food. Focus should be on quality of food, not how much,” Dr Ludwig said. Dr Satchin Panda said, “People who snore don’t get good sleep, brain gets fuzzy, and the person makes bad food decisions, the sleep deprived brain doesn’t know when to stop. On the final day of HTLS on December 4, Union Home Minister Amit Shah talked about India's achievements under the leadership of PM Modi. Avani Lekhara and Sumit Antil, the gold medallists from Tokyo Paralympics as well as Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Bajrang Punia also graced the final day of HTLS.
