Twitter erupts as Mongolian coaches strip to protest after wrestler’s loss

Furious Mongolian officials stripped off and hurled their shoes to the floor after their wrestler was judged the loser.

The Rio Olympics have produced a number of remarkable scenes till now, but none was more bizarre than what happened during the men’s wrestling 65kg bronze medal match.

Two Mongolian coaches stripped their clothes after wrestler Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran lost the match as the judges awarded a penalty point to Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Navruzov.

The coaches thought that Mandakhnaran had won and they started celebrating on the mat . But seconds later, they were informed that the judges have decided to award the penalty point to their opponent --- which meant that Navruzov clinched the medal.

The two Mongolian coaches wanted to challenge the decision, and when the judges explained to them that the call couldn’t be challenged, they stripped down in protest — one removing his shirt, and the other removing both his shirt and pants, leaving on only his underwear.
