Lok Sabha elections 2019: Tej Pratap lands in Sheohar to back his ‘own’ candidate

Tej Pratap, who is RJD MLA from Mahua, said he would also field his own candidate from Saran Lok Sabha constituency against his father-in-law and RJD candidate Chandrika Rai. “We are certainly looking forward to field our candidate from Saran,” Tej Pratap said, while ruling out his own candidature.

Maintaining his belligerent stand,  RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s eldest son and former health minister of Bihar, Tej Pratap Yadav, on Friday held a road show in Sheohar Lok Sabha constituency while asserting that his own nominee would contest for the seat and calling RJD’s nominee a “BJP agent”.

Just a few days ago, Tejashwi drove to Tej Pratap’s residence on the latter’s 30th birthday, but the pictures of the two brothers hugging each other on the occasion have done little to tone down the Mahua MLA.(HT Photo)

While the BJP has fielded its sitting MP Rama Devi again, the RJD has put up Syed Faisal Ali for Sheohar Lok Sabha seat.

“How can one become an official nominee of the RJD? The party’s so-called candidate Syed Faisal Ali for Sheohar Lok Sabha seat is in fact an agent of BJP and his photographs with Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi (BJP leader) too had gone viral in the social media. Moreover, he is also an outsider and the people of Sheohar will give him a befitting reply,” said Tej Pratap, who was in Sheohar as a part of his road show for  Angesh Kumar Singh, the prospective nominee of Lalu Rabri Morcha floated by him recently.

Tej Pratap, who has also supporting another candidate, Balinder Das from Hajipur, against RJD’s official nominee , seems in no mood to relent despite attempts by mother Rabri Devi and younger brother Tejashwi Prasad Yadav to mollify him.

Just a few days ago, Tejashwi drove to Tej Pratap’s residence on the latter’s 30th birthday, but the pictures of the two brothers hugging each other on the occasion have done little to tone down the Mahua MLA.

Speaking on  phone from Sheohar on Friday, Tej Prasad wondered how anyone could become “fly-by night”  nominee of a party of the stature of RJD.

However, he denied any sibling rivalry. “ I am not against my family. I am putting candidates with the sole aim of defeating the NDA,” he said.

Meanwhile, reports said Angesh Kumar Singh, who was denied an RJD ticket despite his candidature  being backed for Sheohar by Tej Pratap, is set to file his nomination papers on April 20. “Angesh Singh is a local person and could understand popular feelings more than an outsider. And he would do everything to ensure development if he wins,” Tej Pratap said during his roads hows at Chirraiya and Dhaka, the two assembly segments of Sheohar parliamentary seat.
