Musicians talk to us about Operation Sindoor, India's response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack by targeting terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and PoK

Sonu Nigam (singer-composer)

I am proud of our leadership and valiant soldiers. May God bless and protect India and Indians from enemies outside and most importantly enemies within.

So proud of our Indian Armed Forces to have carried out such swift and decisive action on the terrorist targets. Operation Sindoor was a much-needed response to the horrific and barbaric Pahalgam killings. May peace and communal harmony resume in Kashmir and across our beloved country. Jai Hind.

Amit Trivedi (composer-singer)

Finally, we have retaliated and I love our government for this. Dehshat ka karaara jawaab dena aata hai humein. Aap terror phailaoge toh hum bhi double intensity se retaliate karenge. Game on!

Operation Sindoor is what happens when a nation, whose patience has been tested time and again, finally decides that enough is enough. Too many innocent lives have been lost to the scourge of terrorism. The only way to eliminate this continuous threat we all live under is to remove it from the roots. And that is what we have done, effectively and efficiently. Immensely proud of our defence and intelligence forces. This was a measured and powerful response, no small feat by any means and they have done all of us proud. Jai Hind!

Salim Merchant (composer-singer)

No one likes war. Operation Sindoor is India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack. What I feel so proud of is that it we only targeted the terrorist camps and not innocent people, something that usually happens whenever there’s a strike. India is very sensitive even when it comes to attacks. I really hope we manage to eradicate terrorism in the PoK area. This operation showcases how India has zero tolerance when it comes to any harm to humanity.

Ricky Kej (composer)

I have full faith that whatever our government is doing in response to the Pahalgam terror attack is befitting, and Operation Sindoor is a huge success in that direction.

I believe Operation Sindoor was an appropriate and necessary response to the horrific terror attack on innocent civilian tourists. The oft-repeated excuse by the Pakistani establishment — that they have no involvement — no longer holds water. This operation sends a clear message: You cannot continue a proxy war and expect to escape accountability by claiming ignorance or distance. Enough is enough. It’s time for change — not just within the Pakistani establishment, but also among civilians and right-minded individuals in Pakistan, who themselves are suffering the consequences of these misguided policies. I heard the speech by their Army Chief, General Asim Munir and was deeply disturbed. He was quoting Quranic verses out of context, completely misrepresenting the holy book. That kind of manipulation is not only dangerous, but also deeply disrespectful.

Malini Awasthi (singer)

When I woke up around 4am today and saw all the notifications on the phone, I felt relief and contentment. It’s not like I was rejoicing because we attacked them, but I felt immense pride in our Army and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the answer that’s been given to Pakistan for what they did in Pulwama. We demolished the terror camps that had been running for decades in Pakistan. I think it’s high time that Pakistan learns from its mistakes and concentrates on their own development and education, rather than taking India’s wounds or resilience for granted.

Indian forces have lived up to the commitment and have struck at the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, it saddens me to see our beautiful Kashmir being torn apart, specially when all was going well. 26 innocent people lost their lives and their families will continue to feel the pain forever. If war is not a solution, at least those responsible for this attack need to be eliminated. I’m so proud of our brave soldiers.

Jigar Saraiya (composer; one half of Sachin-Jigar)

The cowardly act in Pahalgam demanded more than condemnation — it demanded courage. Operation Sindoor was the answer our nation needed. Saluting our brave armed forces and resolute leadership and praying for their safety. Jai Hind!

Sachin Sanghvi (composer; one half of Sachin-Jigar)

Saluting our brave armed forces and the resolute leadership behind Operation Sindoor. Nothing can ever truly compensate for what was lost, but may this act deter terrorism and pave the way for peace. Praying for the safety of frontliners and citizens on both sides. Jai Hind!

Arjun Kanungo (singer)

We are proud of our armed forces for fighting terrorism. I feel that we must be careful about what information we share with others, especially misinformation on social media. Jai Hind.
