Pahalgam attack live updates: At an all-party meeting in Delhi, officials told lawmakers on Thursday that the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam town in Kashmir was not scheduled to be open to tourists till June , explaining that this was the reason for the absence of police and paramilitary presence at the site where 26 people were gunned down by terrorists earlier this week.

But on Friday, tour operators, tourists, pony riders and local officials in Pahalgam said that the vast grassland spread over two miles is open throughout the year, and usually, no police nod is sought for tourists to walk (or take a pony) up the roughly 6 km stretch .

Pahalgam attack live updates: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, on Friday, called the now-suspended Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan the “most unfair document” for the people of the union territory, saying it never had their support.

“The Government of India has taken some steps. As far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, let's be honest, we have never been in favour of the Indus Waters Treaty. Now, what the medium to long-term implications of this are, that is something we have to wait to see,” Abdullah said.

Pahalgam attack live updates: Dr A Parmeshwaran, a 31-year-old doctor from Tamil Nadu who was injured in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam and airlifted to Delhi, is critical and on ventilatory support at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Aiims), the hospital said in a statement on Friday.

Dr Parmeshwaran, an ENT surgeon, received grievous injuries in the neck and abdomen in the attack.

US President Donald Trump on Friday reacted to the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, saying that it was a "bad one".

"...That was a bad one (the attack)…The tensions have always been there (at the Indo-Pak border), but they'll get it figured out, one way or the other," Trump told reporters.

"…I know both leaders. There's great tension between Pakistan and India, but that has always been there..." he added.

Jal Shakti minister CR Paatil on Friday said that India would not allow a “single drop” of water to flow into Pakistan as a retaliation for its alleged role in the terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, killing 26 innocent people.

“We will ensure that not a single drop of water flows into Pakistan from India,” CR Paatil said.

MP CM Mohan Yadav paid his respects to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack, while showing confidence that PM Modi would give a befitting reply.

"I want to pay respect to all those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. PM Modi will give a befitting reply to this. The entire country is standing together in this fight." PTI quoted Yadav as saying.

Kanpur mayor Pramila Pandey on Fridayb announced that the Municipal Corporation had decided to name a chowk and a park after Pahalgam attack victim Shubham Dwivedi. She also offered a job to Shubham's wife.

" We have named a park and a chowk after Shubham Dwivedi. If his wife is interested, we will give her a job here. The family of Municipal Cooperation is with her," Pandey told ANI.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar met the family members of Santosh Jagdale, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.

Members of the Indian community staged a protest outside the Pakistan High Commission in London, condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.

Representatives of 100 countries attending the ‘Bharat Summit’ in Hyderabad issued a joint statement condemning the Pahalgam terror attack.

"We, the representatives of progressive parties from 100 countries, with the other participants of the Bharat Summit, Hyderabad, are anguished by the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which targeted and killed 26 innocent civilians and left several others injured. We express our solidarity with the People of India and unequivocally condemn the terror attack in the strongest possible terms. Such acts of brutality against peaceful citizens have no place in society and are a direct assault on the constitutional values of unity, peace, and harmony," the statement read.

Pragati Jagdale, wife of Santosh Jagdale, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, has appealed to the government for financial help as her husband, who was the sole breadwinner of the family, was killed in the attack, ANI reported.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has said that the organisation won't cooperate with anyone found working with a Pakistani artist or technician.

" When Pulwama attack took place in 2019, we had issued a press release against Pakistani artists, we had told that time also that we won't let Pakistani artists work in India...because the nation is first...the Pahalgam attack is condemnable. We have released a press release, if we find any of our members working with a Pakistani artist or technician, we will not cooperate with them...Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal movie was supposed to release on 9th May, but we wrote to the I&B Ministry and its director that he can't work with a Pakistani actor. We warned the director that if he released this movie, we would not cooperate with any of the people in your unit...the movie was banned in India yesterday...we also wrote to OTT platforms not to release this film," Ashok Dubey, General Secretary FWICE, told ANI.

The Samajwadi Party took out a candlelight protest against the Pahalgam terror attack in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow.

Congress cadres in Tamil Nadu's Ambur paid a silent tribute to the Pahalgam terror attack victims, PTI reported.

UP Congress chief Ajay Rai said that his party stands with the victims.

"There is anger in the whole country that the incident that happened in Pahalgam is very sad and condemnable. The whole country is sad. The Congress Party stands strongly with the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident," Rai told ANI.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy on Friday urged PM Modi to give a befitting reply to Pakistan as he assured full support.

"We all will together support the country's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. When China attacked our country in 1967, Indira Gandhi gave a befitting reply. After that, in 1971, Pakistan attacked the country, Indira Gandhi gave a befitting reply and divided the country into two parts...Today, we have to take action against Pakistan. We have to give a befitting reply. 140 crore Indians are with you. Divide Pakistan into two parts and merge PoK with India, we are all with you," Reddy said.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday dialled Prime Minister Narendra Modi to condemn the "barbaric" terror in Pahalgam and conveyed that the UK stands in solidarity with India in this hour of tragedy, PTI reported.

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof also telephoned Modi and reaffirmed shared commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.

APCC held a candlelight march in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada to protest against the Pahalgam terror attack.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar discussed the Pahalgam terror attack with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud.

"Had a telecon with Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia. Discussed the Pahalgam terrorist attack and its cross-border linkages," Jaishankar's post on X read.

Dr A Parmeshwaran, a 31-year-old resident of Tamil Nadu, sustained gunshot injuries in a terror attack at Pahalgam. He suffered injuries to the neck and abdomen and underwent surgery at the Government Medical College in Anantnag. Following the procedure, he was airlifted to the Jayaprakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS New Delhi, on 24th April 2025. Currently, Dr. Parmeshwaran is in the ICU on a ventilator under close medical supervision. His prognosis is guarded, according to a statement from AIIMS Delhi

Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Smriti. He joined the candlelight protest organised by the party against the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

BJP leader Agnimitra Paul took a veiled dig at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

"The Modi government has taken all the steps and is very strict in taking revenge. Instructions have been given that every Pakistani national who has come to India must leave India before May 1, and all visas have been cancelled...But, I doubt anything would happen in Bengal where Mamata Banerjee would heed any Home Minister's instruction," Paul told ANI.
