The state government is planning to introduce strict security measures for skyscrapers that are more than 50 m in height.
The state government is planning to introduce strict security measures for skyscrapers that are more than 50 m in height. The state’s plan comes in the wake of 26/11 terror attacks, where tall buildings like the Hotel Taj and Hotel Trident were targetted.
As per the proposed plan, all high-rises above 50 m will have to enhance their security system and accommodate safety measures that can help tackle emergency situations.
“The plan is in a very initial stage. The proposal is being incorporated based on the Merani Committee recommendations on security,” said Chief Secretary Johny Joseph.
On Friday, a meeting, presided by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Chandra Iyengar, decided that over 100 closed-circuit television cameras would be installed at important locations in the city.
The CCTV cameras will be installed at airports, water reservoirs, shopping malls, schools, colleges, high-rises, rail stations.
