THE LUCKNOW Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to send notices to the Shyama Prasad Mukerji Hospital along with 17 nursing homes and private hospitals, which have not been submitting data regarding births and deaths.
THE LUCKNOW Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to send notices to the Shyama Prasad Mukerji Hospital along with 17 nursing homes and private hospitals, which have not been submitting data regarding births and deaths.

Nagar Swasthya Adhikari Dr BBS Rathore and Acting Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar taking note of the confusion in maintenance of records at the LMC office expressed shock when he was told by the LMC officials that only 40 per cent of Lucknowites registered births and deaths and the co-operations of hospitals in maintaining records was vital.
Some hospitals exploit patients by asking them to pay a heavy sum for a provisionary birth certificate and usually patients have to themselves, obtain the registration certificates from the hospitals and submit them at the LMC.
Nagar Swasthya Adhikari Dr BBS Rathore says it is important the LMC take punitive action against hospitals that do not abide by the LMC directive.
Imposition of a heavy fine would be evident if the hospitals do not follow rules,” said Rathore. He added, “We are taking up the matter seriously now. We have written several times to erring hospitals in the past but they have not paid any heed to our notices. The common man has been suffering because of this.”
Besides the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Hospital, other hospitals like Vishal Hospital, Sadbhavna Nursing Home, St Mary’s Hospital, Jagrani Hospital, Harsh Medical Centre, Heerawati Hospital, Kirti Nursing Home, Mayo Nursing Home, Nova Hospital, Kiran Hospital, Sanjivani Hospital, Jeewan Nursing Home, Adarsh Hospital, Line Hospital, Shyama Nursing Home, and Vivekananda Hospital have been issued a warning by the LMC for failure to submit proper death and birth related documents.
