UPI outage across India: Full list of apps where payment ops have been hit

The UPI services have become a staple in the Indian economy, with a huge penetration even in the rural parts of the country.

Several users across the country are facing problems while using the Unified Payment Service (UPI) as outages hit several apps across platforms.

According to DownDetector, there were 3100 complaints related to UPI snag as of 8:11 pm. There were 296 complaints by Google Pay users according to the website. Similarly, several other apps that use the UPI network have also been reported down by the users.

The UPI services have become a staple in the Indian economy, with a huge penetration even in the rural parts of the country. If the outage persists, it would affect a large chunk of the population who have come to rely on the service for their daily transactions, largely replacing cash, especially in bigger cities.

UPI down: A list of major apps and services affected

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages in websites and apps, more than 3,100 reports of outages have been reported for UPI.

Services for the State Bank of India have also been affected, with at least 406 users reporting being affected as of 8:11 PM.

Several users of GPay, Google’s payment app, have also reported the outage on Downdetector.

Similarly, GPay’s competitors Paytm and PhonePe have also been reported down as far as the UPI services are concerned.

The UPI services offered by several banks like Bank of India, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra and Indian Bank, among others, are also reported down.

Apart from Downdetector, several users also took to social media to flag the outages as the nation waits for the restoration of what has become a lifeline for many.

UPI transactions are high in India, with the January figure standing at 16.99 billion. These transactions moved as much as 23.48 lakh crore, marking the highest number recorded in any month, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.
