Public bodies’ meet in April to discuss Sikandarpur-NH8-Manesar metro

Representatives of public bodies concerned will meet at the civil secretariat in Chandigarh in April to discuss the development, public-private partnership model and designate metro stations on the Sikandarpur Metro Station to NH-8, metro link proposed in Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex 2031 (also called Gurgaon Master Plan).

The project aims to provide public transport to 20.50 lakh projected population.

Under the 32,988 hectares urban area in the master plan, a total of 4,428 hectares have been reserved for transport and communication. The existing Delhi-Gurgaon Metro link, which terminates at HUDA City Centre, sector 29 will pass through sector 43-44, 52-52A, 56-57, Southern Peripheral Road, NH-8 towards Manesar.

The meet includes officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Municipal Corporation Gurgaon, Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, department of Town and Country Planning and Haryana Urban Development Authority.

An official of the department of Town and Country Planning said that decisions including demarking metro sites will be made to ensure that residential areas can be developed by making provision of all community facilities and services within the sectors on an average net residential density of 300 people per hectare.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority and licensed developers have already developed residential area of 8,000 hectares in various residential sectors of this Development Plan to accommodate 20 lakh population, with the existing town and village abadis accommodating another 2 lakh population.

Besides the Sikandarpur-NH8-Manesar metro link, the meet will also discuss budget allocations for the metro loop taking off from Sikandarpur Metro Station and passing through Sector 25-25A, which is proposed to be extended up to Southern Peripheral Road through Golf Course Road.
