The top two candidates split 92.4% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's B.K.Sangameshwara. got a total of 75,722 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s Appaji.M.J. secured 64,155 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Praveen Patel.G.R. secured 8,974 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.0%, 42.4% and 5.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s Appaji. M.J beat independent candidate B.K.Sangameshwara by 44,099 votes.
