Himachal Pradesh Assembly election result 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday conceded defeat after a tough fight in Himachal Pradesh Assembly election. The counting of votes began at 8am and after a head-to-head battle, the Congress emerged as the clear winners, securing a majority in the hill state. The Jairam Thakur-led BJP government attempted to retain a second term in Himachal, a streak that has not been broken by any party since 1985. The outgoing chief minister Jairam Thakur, who won from his seat, accepted the party's defeat and thanked the people of Himachal for entrusting them the last five years.
