The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the final data of both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly election and the result is a split between the BJP and the Congress party. While the saffron unit retained their reign in Gujarat by winning a record 156 seats as opposed to Congress's 17, the grand old party wrested the northern hill state by bagging 40 constituencies of the 68 seats. The BJP claimed 25 in Himachal Pradesh.

Gujarat: Congress nominee set to retain Vav assembly seat
Congress candidate Geniben Thakor was on course to retain the Vav assembly seat in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. After 24 rounds of counting of votes, Thakor bagged 100652 votes against BJP’s Swarupji Thakor who polled 85415 votes, a difference of 15237 votes.
Anand Assembly seat back with BJP after 5 years
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Yogesh Patel wrested the Anand Assembly constituency in Gujarat from the Congress with a margin of 41,623 votes. He defeated sitting Congress MLA Kanti Sodha Parmar in Anand, known for the world famous Amul dairy brand.
