Lakhimpur is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Lakhimpur district. Assam Assembly Election 2021 for Lakhimpur was held on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.

The top three candidates split 82.6% of votes between them. Asom Gana Parisad's Utpal Dutta got a total of 45,917 votes, while independent candidate Joy Prakash Das secured 41,762 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Ghana Buragohain grabbed the third spot with 23,493 votes. The top three parties got 34.1%, 31.0% and 17.5% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Asom Gana Parisad's Utpal Dutta defeated Indian National Congress's Ghana Buragohain by 1,099 votes.
