Behali is one of the 126 Assam Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sonitpur district. People of Behali voted for Assam Assembly Election 2021 on March 27 and the result was declared on May 2.
Behali assembly constituency had 1,07,643 electors in 2016, out of which 56,233 were male voters and 51,410 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 2.3% votes.
In 2016, 4 candidates were competing for Behali assembly constituency seat. Behali was one of 60 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjit Dutta comfortably winning the election defeating Indian National Congress's Rupak Sarma by a huge margin of 23,601 votes.
The top two candidates split 89.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjit Dutta got a total of 52,152 votes, while Indian National Congress's Rupak Sarma secured 28,551 votes. Communist Party Of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation)'s candidate Bibek Das secured 8,025 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 57.8%, 31.6% and 8.9% respectively.
In Assam Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Pallab Lochan Das outperformed Bharatiya Janta Party's Ranjit Dutta by 18,136 votes.
