"Though the post-mortem report is yet to come, initial report suggests that the victim was drugged before being killed," said an Ajmer Police official, who didn't wish to be named.
Meanwhile, the police's only hope of identifying the girl's body was lost on Tuesday after the daughter of a Delhi resident, who had pointed out similarities between his daughter and the victim, was traced in Panipat.
The police of Delhi and Haryana jointly found Cheena, the daughter of Jawahar Luthra, a Rohini resident, in Panipat, said Pawan Kumar Jain, circle officer of Kishangarh.
The police had hoped to crack the case based on Luthra's descriptions, but after Cheena was found, the Ajmer Police cremated the body on Tuesday.
Luthra had pointed out similarities between his missing 25-year-old daughter and the body on Monday, said Jain. Cheena had reportedly gone missing from Jalandhar on March 13.
"We cremated the body after the post-mortem. The DNA sample and viscera of the victim has been preserved for future use," said station house officer of Madanganj police station, Narendra Singh.
The Delhi police are now trying to identify the rickshawpuller who brought the tin box to the transport company.
The Delhi police have also prepared two sketches - of the person who booked the parcel and of the rickshawpuller who delivered it - and plan to release them on Wednesday.
