The 18.6-km corridor will be constructed in two phases -- Dwarka to Kanjawala in the first phase and from Kanjhawala, near Rohini, to Prem Piao in northwest Delhi in the second. There will be 18 stations on this elevated route. The line will benefit people living on the periphery of the city such as Najafgarh, Ranhaula, Aman Vihar.

The DMRC has dropped plans to construct the corridor between Lajpat Nagar and Saket G-Block, an extension of the Shiv Vihar-Majlis Park corridor.

The DMRC had submitted a detailed project report to Delhi government which had six new corridors -- Rithala – Narela (21.73km), Janakpuri West – RK Ashram (28.92km), Mukundpur–Maujpur (12.54km), Inderlok–Indraprastha (12.58km), Tughlakabad–Aerocity (20.20 km), Lajpat Nagar–Saket G-Block (7.96 km).

All corridors have been retained except the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block. Also, the Tughlakabad–Saket–IGI Terminal route, which was to connect Aerocity station, will now go on up to Terminal 1 station. It will meet the violet line at Tughlakabad, the yellow line at Saket and the Magenta line’s Terminal 1 station, sources said.

The magenta line is one of the underconstruction lines that consists of 38 metro stations from Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden.

The DMRC has set a deadline of 2021 for the phase-IV expansion, which would add 75 stations to the metro network. A total of 31.47 kilometre of the new lines will be underground while 64.39 will be elevated.
