Delhi weather is likely to be pleasant on Wednesday. Winds and overcast may persist. There may be isolated drizzles but IMD does not predict rain today.

People in Delhi were treated to light drizzles on Wednesday morning, and this rainfall may help bring temperatures down in the city. The recent weather activity has been chalked up to the influence of a western disturbance brewing over the western Himalayas, and weathermen have predicted dust storms, thunderstorms, and rain, in the coming days.

On Wednesday morning, temperature dipped to 18.4 degrees Celsius, four notches above the normal expected minimum temperature for this time of the year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that temperature may rise up to 28 degrees during the course of the day.

Trace amounts of rain were also reported in most parts of Delhi Monday morning, according to the IMD. “We have been getting reports of trace amounts of rainfall from almost all parts of the city. Especially Ayanagar, Palam and Safdarjung,” said an official.

Strong winds were also recorded in the national capital, with wind speed oscillating between 16-17 kmph.

Though IMD officials are not sure if it will rain for the rest of the day, they say winds and cloudiness will persist. “There is only a slight chance of isolated drizzles for the rest of the day,” said the official.

The normal minimum and maximum temperature for March 6 to 10 are expected to be 14.2 and 28.7 degrees Celsius. Between March 11 and 15, they are set to be slightly higher — 15.6 and 29.2 degrees Celsius.

With the IMD expecting rain the next three days and the western disturbance continuing to influence the region, the temperature in the city is expected to drop, especially the minimum temperatures recorded in the morning hours.

Though the temperature will continue to fluctuate between 29 and 13 degrees Celsius on Thursday, IMD has predicted dust storms or thunderstorms with a slight possibility of rain.

Rain and thunderstorm are also expected on Friday and Saturday. By Saturday, after three days of rainfall, the national capital is expected get cooler too. The maximum and minimum temperature expected on Saturday is 24 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
