Taking a significant step towards providing efficient services through technology intervention, the three municipal corporations of Delhi have started working on an integrated mobile application.

This app will offer a one-stop solution and many facilities to people besides helping them to file complaints on a real-time basis.

The IT department of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the nodal agency for all three corporations, is working on the integrated mobile-based app.

“To being with, all services that are presently available online would be integrated on this mobile app. It included submitting of property tax, renewal of trade/health/ general licences, downloading birth and death certificates, checking status of community hall and parks, etc. We will add other services over a period of time,” said a senior official from the IT department.

Another prominent feature of the app would be ‘Whats Near Me’, which will enable residents to find MCD parking lots, hospitals, public/community toilets, etc., located near them. Residents can also know the wards, zones and councillors.

Official can issue ‘mobile challans’ to unauthorised hawkers, vendors operating on public land by sending an SMS on the spot and a notification online.

The department has already invited the tenders to design, develop and customise the mobile app. The facility is expected to function in the next two months.

“The mobile app will make life easier for residents. This application is designed to tackle all kinds of complaints,” said a senior official.

Mohanjeet Singh, EDMC commissioner, said the facility would certainly help in transforming the way the municipal corporation interacts with citizens in the three corporations by making online payments, reports, civic issues, citizen-centric services and other relevant information.

“It would be a customised app just like our website with common features for east, north and south Delhi,” he said.

General information about the MCDs such as history, vision, achievements, departments and upcoming events of the city can be accessed.

It will help us to improve the efficiency and make the area better through transparency, collaboration, co-operation and feedback.

“The MCD officials can monitor the e-tendering process, communicate with each other and check the status of any project/inspection conducted by any official in their respective zones,” said the official.
