An evening of Dhoom and masti with Euphoria at Friday Jam 5

It was a Friday like no other when the live wire band of “Delhi boys”, Euphoria, set the stage on fire, at Delhi NCR’s biggest musical festival — Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam Season 5, powered by Too Yumm and Nearbuy.com

It may have been a long, tiring week at work (add to that the unrelenting North Indian summer), but the band’s frontman Palash Sen revved up the evening when he addressed the crowds, announcing, “Aaj sab log baith ke show dekhne waale ho kya? Saare khade ho jao and put your hands up in the air, everybody. And since we are on stage, yahaan garmi aur badhne waali hai.” And instantly, cheers of ‘Dhoom Pichak Dhoom Pichak’, ‘Ab Naa Jaa’, ‘Rok Sako Toh Rok Lo’ (the band’s popular songs) filled the atmosphere, reverberating in the jam-packed DLF Cyber Hub in Gurugram.

“The only place where I feel I fit [in] is when I get on stage. I feel this is my home. It’s what I do and this is where I am the most comfortable. There is an instant gratification when get on to the stage,” says Sen, whose band has completed 20 years since its inception. “HT really wants to support good entertainment. [And] till the time there is Euphoria and HT, there is always hope for independent, music,” he adds.

And when they performed, the crowd broke into bhangra moves, singing and dancing to hits the band belted out, including Maaeri, Haar Na Maan’na, Bhoola Sab, and Jiya Jaye Na. Overwhelmed by the support and a resounding applause, Sen beamed: “[Delhi-NCR] has the wildest crowd in the country. And Gurugram is the best city in the world, it’s absolutely fantastic. People keep saying ki Dilli mein log Punjabi sunte hain. Par agar Punjabi sunte toh Euphoria kaise banta?”

Clearly, the NCR audience’s taste and appetite for music had Sen elated. “I am so amazed that we can get a crowd like this. There are no film hits and we are not part of the film Industry. [And] still people come to watch us. If you play good music, people are bound [to listen]. It’s important that people give attention to concerts. My advice to other bands is that if get your music together, people are bound to listen. There are many young bands in the country that are doing so well,” he added.

Towards the end, the band also took the audience down memory lane with classics We Will Rock You, Sanu Ek Pal Chain, Tareef Karun Kya Uski, Lathe Di Chadar, and others.
