India vs Australia Highlights, 2nd Test, Day 2: AUS lead by 62 runs as Head, Labuschagne get visitors off to quick start

Todd Murphy brings an end to Axar Patel's stay in the middle. He is caught at mid-on by Cummins, who takes a spectacular coach. The batter departs for 74(115). IND: 259/9

Pat Cummins finally break the partnership between Ashwin and Axar Patel. The pair added 114 runs for the eighth wicket, before Ashwin was caught by Renshaw at short mid-wicket. Ashwin departs for 37. IND: 253/8

Axar and Ashwin combine to hit Nathan Lyon for a boundary each. IND: 252/7

Nathan Lyon keeps thing under control and gives away just one run. 

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins continue from the other end as he is struck for consecutive fours by Axar Patel. 11 runs come off the over as Ashwin and Axar stitch a 100-plus stand for the 8th wicket. IND: 243/7

A short delivery by Pat Cummins as it hits Ashwin's shoulders and is caught by Smith at slips. Loud appeal but the umpire isn't interested. 

Meanwhile, he starts off with a maiden over. IND: 231/7

Nathan Lyon concedes a single in his final ball. IND: 231/7

Axar Patel hits Kuhnemann for a six to bring up his half-century. IND reach 230/7 and are now trailing by 33 runs.

Axar Patel hits Travis Head for a boundary as eight runs come in his over.

Ashwin does the same against Lyon in the next over as India reach 222/7. The hosts now trail by 41 runs

Nathan Lyon continues from the other end. He concedes two runs as IND reach 210/7.

Travis Head is introduced into the attack as he starts off with a two-run over. IND: 208/7

Ashwin plays it straight towards Matt Renshaw at leg slips, however, the fielder fails to stop the ball, which then results in a four. IND: 206/7 

R Ashwin gets a single in Todd Murphy's over as IND move to 202/7 in 69 overs.

Todd Murphy concedes four runs in his over, while India get a four runs in the form of byes against Nathan Lyon. IND: 201/7

Ashwin and Axar combine to get a single each off Todd Murphy, while Nathan Lyon follows it up with a maiden over. IND: 193/7

Nathan Lyon gets an outside edge off Axar Patel, but Steve Smith reacts slightly late as the ball beats him and races away to the boundary ropes. India won't mind any runs at this stage. IND: 191/7 

Ashwin doesn't allow Murphy to settle as he gathers a double, following which the spinner concedes a boundary in the form of leg byes. IND: 186/7

The players are back on the field as Todd Murphy leads the Aussie attack against R Ashwin.

Axar Patel hits Pat Cummins for another FOUR. He cuts the pacer towards point and the outfield does the rest. IND: 174/7 (trail by 89 runs)

Axar Patel hammers Kuhnemann for a four and follows it up with a 85m six. 11 runs come off the over. IND: 170/7

Australia switch to pace as Pat Cummins gets himself back into the attack. He is welcomed with a cracking four by Axar Patel, as he hits it straight past the bowler.  Six runs come off the over. IND: 159/7

The runs are drying up as Ashwin and Axar maintain a cautious approach. Nathan Lyon bowls a maiden. IND: 153/7

Another tight over by Todd Murphy as just one run come off his over. IND: 153/7

Two tight overs by Australia as Todd Murphy bowls a maiden, while Lyon concedes one run. IND: 152/7 (trail by 111 runs)

Ashwin hits another boundary against Kuhnemann. Goes on the backfoot and finds the gap between the mid-wicket and long-on region. India also bring up their 150. IND: 151/7

Ashwin hits Kuhnemann for a FOUR. The ball was pitched slightly short, outside off as Ashwin makes room and then hits it towards square off the wicket for a cracking four.

Lyon then bowls a two-run over as IND move to 146/7.

Nathan Lyon completes his fifer as KS Bharat is caught by Steve Smith for six. The batter tried to sweep but the ball takes his gloves and is collected easily by Steve Smith, who is positioned at slip. IND: 139/7

Big blow for India as Virat Kohli is trapped LBW by Matt Kuhnemann for 44. The former India skipper straightaway went for the review. Well it was not sure if it was pad first or bat, but the third umpire was convinced it was pads and then bat. Ball tracking then showed that it was kissing the leg stump. 

The third umpire asks the on-field umpire to stick to his decision, but Kohli was certain that the ball was drifting down the leg. IND: 135/6 (trail by 128 runs)

Kohli hits Murphy for a boundary in his next over and smiles sheepishly. The ball kept low and lucky for the former India captain that he got some bat on to it. Nine runs come off the over as IND reach 135/5. 

Kohli starts the over by Todd Murphy with a boundary, before passing the strike to Jadeja.

The spinner then traps Jadeja LBW for 26 to provide his side with a crucial breakthrough. Meanwhile, India have lost half their side with just 125 on the board.

Jadeja had also opted for a review, so India lose that too. IND: 125/5

Todd Murphy gets a thick outside edge off Virat Kohli, which beats the fielder at slips and races towards the boundary behind the stumps.

He then takes a quick double as Jadeja and Kohli also stitch a 50-plus stand for the fifth wicket. IND: 118/4

Just two singles come in the last two overs as India move to 112/4.

Nathan Lyon gets some bounce and the ball was drifting down the leg. It hits Kohli on the waist, beats the wicketkeeper and results in a four. IND: 110/4

An appeal for stumping and caught-behind at the same time by Alex Carey and umpire sends it upstairs. TV replay confirms everything is fine, there was no edge, foot was well grounded. 

Meanwhile, another LBW appeal against Jadeja by Todd Murphy. IND: 105/4

Jadeja and Kohli again combine to cover two singles against Todd Murphy. 

The next over Kohli pushes a short ball by Lyon towards the on-side for a single as India bring up their 100.

A similar ball to Jadeja, who goes on to the backfoot, and guides it towards the mid-wicket region for a four. IND: 104/4 

A couple of singles against Nathan Lyon as India move to 97/4. 

A huge LBW appeal against Jadeja by Todd Murphy. The Aussies can't take a review having lost all of them in the first session. TV replay confirms there was an inside edge, before the ball hit the pads.

Jadeja then goes on to finish the over with a boundary. IND: 95/4

Lyon starts off with a maiden over. IND: 88/4

The players are back on the pitch as Nathan Lyon starts off against Ravindra Jadeja. India will look for a partnership, while Australia will hope for a repeat in the second session.
