Punjab primary students’ learning levels shoot up in 8 months: Report

More than 9.24 lakh students from 12,995 primary schools were evaluated in March as part of the latest survey which found that 71.51% of them passed the basic test in Punjabi, English and mathematics, against 29.85% in August last year.

In 176 schools, 10% or below students passed. However the state improved over all pass percentage by 2%. The highest number of schools with nil results is in Tarn Taran district.

Punjabi, being the mother tongue of the residents of Punjab, is a compulsory subject up to Class 10 and the official language of the state.
