Ex-Doraha councillor held for stealing tyres of seized vehicles
SAD leader, whose wife is now Doraha councillor, to be produced before court today
The Doraha police have arrested a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader for stealing tyres of vehicles confiscated by police in several cases. The police recovered stolen tyres from his possession late Friday.

The accused identified as Harnek Singh, alias Neki, of Ward Number 11, Doraha, is a former municipal councillor of Doraha, who has also served as the vice-president of Doraha Nagar Council. Now, his wife is a municipal councillor.
Assistant sub-inspector Jarnail Singh said he is the malkhana in-charge in Doraha. Some of the vehicles confiscated by the police have been kept near first-aid post on national highway 1 in Doraha. The ASI came to know that someone has stolen the tyres of a truck that was confiscated in an accident case.
The police later recovered the tyres from Harnek’s possession and arrested him.
A case under Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused.
Harnek will be produced in the court on Sunday.
