Haryana CM Khattar's jibe at Kejriwal before MCD polls: ‘Thinks he owns Delhi'
The civic polls seem to be a two-way contest between the BJP and AAP, some analysts have suggested.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday took a jibe at his Delhi counterpart and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief - Arvind Kejriwal - ahead of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections next week. Kejriwal “considers himself as the owner of Delhi," the BJP leader said in a fresh dig. In his address at a public rally in the national capital - where he was present to support the BJP nominees in the MCD elections - Khattar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI: “Arvind Kejriwal considers himself as the owner of Delhi, unlike our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who thinks of himself as a servant of this nation."

On Saturday, Khattar addressed three consecutive rallies in different parts of Delhi - Krishna Nagar, Shahdara, and Rajendra Nagar.

The civic polls in the national capital are scheduled for December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7. Out of the total nominations, as many as 507 candidates are independents (the highest share), followed by the AAP with 492 candidates. The BJP - which is currently governing the civic body - has fielded 423 candidates, the Congress had fielded 334 candidates, 149 from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), 31 from the JD(U), 20 from AIMIM, and nine from the CPI(M).

Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had also slammed AAP, accusing its leaders of engaging in corruption and scams. "All AAP ministers are not only involved in serious allegations of corruption but also jailed. This shows that his (AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's) politics is only about corruption, liquor, and scams," Thakur was quoted as saying by ANI.
