Udta Punjab gets red signal from CBFC for all the swearing, expletives
We tried contacting the director as well as the producer Vikas Bahl to get a reaction but they remained unavailable.
Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Udta Punjab’s trailer may have been let off easy and without any censors but the film itself is not getting a very lenient treatment. According to reports, the upcoming movie has been halted by the Censor Board of Film Certification due its expletive-laden dialogues.
We tried contacting the director as well as the producer Vikas Bahl to get a reaction but they remained unavailable. “Makers are yet to come up with a plan to tide over this issue. They don’t want any confrontation with the Censors, so they will try and sort this amicably,” says an insider.

Apparently, makers have the option of appealing to a tribunal but insiders believe that makers will have “to contend with a few cuts.” At the same time, reports suggest that the censor board has taken a call to stall the film due to the fact that the state of Punjab is going to hold elections next year.
While Shahid Kapoor plays a drug-addict rock star, Alia is a Bihari migrant in the film.
