Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria begged to have Mumbai Dilli Di Kudiyaan in SOTY 2, because they were ‘dying to do an Indian song’
Actor Ananya Panday has said that she and Tara Sutaria ‘were dying to do an Indian song’ and begged director Punit Malhotra to have Mumbai Dilli Di Kudiyaan in Student of the Year 2.
Student of the Year 2 actors Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria begged director Punit Malhotra to include the song Mumbai Dilli Di Kudiyaan in the film, because they wanted an ‘Indian song’ - something along the lines of the first film’s Radha Teri Chunari.
Speaking at the launch event of the song in Mumbai, Ananya said according to Pinkvilla, “Tara and I were dying to do an Indian song, especially after watching Radha. I told them you guys have to put one here. It was amazing shooting an Indian song with Tiger and Tara.”
The song was released online on Wednesday, and has already created a buzz around its lyrics. ‘Dil mein bhara hai aise disco, paani pyaara ho jaise fish ko,’ goes one line. ‘Main nai rukdi, mukdi hai battery mere phone diyaa,’ is another.
Music for the film has been composed by Vishal and Shekhar. Mumbai Dilli Ki Kudiyaan is written by Vayu and performed by Dev Negi, Payal Dev and Vishal Dadlani. One song from the film - The Jawaani Song - has already been released. Speaking about the song, Punit told DNA, “The way Tiger dances is amazing. Ananya, Tara and Aditya too have performed well, making it a good competition number. We had a blast shooting the song, it’s young, fresh and looks spectacular.”
Radha Teri Chunari from the original film was a runaway success. The song was picturised on leads Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. It was also composed by Vishal and Shekhar, and performed by Shreya Ghoshal, Udit Narayan, and Vishal and Shekhar.
Student of the Year 2 is produced by Karan Johar and slated for a May 10 release.
