North Delhi mayor visits collapsed landfill, orders flattening of mounds

On Thursday the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led opposition had blamed the political wing of the BJP-led corporation for the accident in which three people were injured and two-three livestock was trapped in the debris. A small portion of 15 metres in length at the back of the landfill had collapsed in the wee hours.

South Delhi internal roads in bad shape

Debris dumped on plains altering Yamuna’s flow

According to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order of 2015, any dumping of waste or debris on the Yamuna floodplains is banned and violators could be fined up to Rs50,000.

Better segregation of biomedical waste needed: EPCA

The report stated that the volume of waste generated in June was marginally higher, 372.47 tonnes per day, but this was because biomedical waste from patients in home isolation and quarantine centres was not segregated and so general waste was mixed with it.

The report is based on the data shared by the Central Pollution Control Board and state pollution control boards of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Rajasthan(AP)

Debris dumped on Yamuna floodplains and river bed, NGT asks pollution body to file report

The waste has been dumped underneath the Signature Bridge and the Sarai Kale Khan flyover. NGT asked for the report after an NGO, South Asian Network on Dams, Rivers and People (SANDRP), posted pictures and videos of the dump on the floodplains.

As per an NGT order of 2015, any kind of dumping of waste or construction and demolition debris in and around the floodplains is prohibited.(HT photo)

Covid-19: Dilli Haat reopens, but customers stay away

The Delhi tourism department had on Friday announced that all three centres of Dilli Haat, Nature Bazaar, The Garden of Five Senses, Azad Hind Gram and GTB Memorial would open from July 4 and that no entry fee would be charged for the first 15 days.

Ten days after being designated Covid-only facility, Hindu Rao starts admitting patients
