SC hints at avoiding cases with concurrent decisions

Justice Sanjay K Kaul, heading a three-judge-bench, made this avowal while asserting that there has to be an end to appeals against every order passed by subordinate courts. The bench also included justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Hrishikesh Roy.

As a matter of principle, said the bench, the apex court should not interfere when there are concurrent findings by all the subordinate courts.(PTI)

Farmers' protest: SC refuses to step in on Republic Day tractor rally

Declining to pass any order on a plea by Delhi Police, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde said it was not for the court to remind the authorities of their policing power by passing an order.

Amaravati land scam ex-Andhra HC judge files personal affidavit in Supreme Court

Justice V Eswaraiah has filed his personal affidavit as part of his appeal against the Andhra Pradesh high court order to investigate an alleged phone conversation between him and a suspended judicial officer, which the HC had dubbed as a “serious conspiracy” to destablise the judiciary.

Justice Eswaraiah has filed his affidavit after an SC bench, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, directed him on January 11 to affirm it on oath that the voice in recorded conversation was his and he filed a correct transcript of the recording.(PTI)

Farm stir fanned by vested interests: Govt

In its affidavit filed hours after Monday’s hearing, the government told the court that the three legislations are a result of two decades of deliberations and that the demand to repeal them in entirety is “neither justifiable nor acceptable.”

‘Almighty took care of husband’ and SC rescued the stepson

Central Vista plan gets SC nod in 2-1 majority verdict

By a 2-1 majority -- the majority judgment was given by justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari, while justice Sanjiv Khanna disagreed and wrote a separate order -- the bench dismissed a clutch of petitions against the redevelopment project while holding that the government and its agencies fulfilled all legal requirements in altering the land use of the seven plots in the area, and in obtaining the environmental clearances for constructing the new Parliament building.
