340 Indian star tortoises released to natural habitat by forest department 

The TRP was established to address the growing issue of turtles and tortoises being rescued from illegal wildlife trade and captivity and the initiative to have a statewide approach to rehabilitate them systematically

Despite rainy weather, many areas of Pune city record higher pollution levels

For a long time, Pune city has recorded moderate category air quality with an AQI of 100 to 150 recorded since the beginning of the year mainly due to localised activities such as vehicle movement and traffic jams, ready-mix concrete (RMC) plants, and waste burning in the open among others

At least five areas in the city recorded an AQI of above 100, whereas Katraj Dairy and Karve Nagar recorded the highest AQI of 326 Friday afternoon which is higher than Delhi’s AQI recorded as 220. (HT PHOTO)

Agitated leopardess attacks six villagers who tried to capture the animal; forest dept files case

The animal had climbed a tree at a camping site near Pavana Lake in Wadgaon Maval at around 8am, and instead of waiting for the big cat to leave the human settlement area, locals attempted to capture it, creating chaos, the official said
