Sending a woman for court hearing, despite exemption as she had delivered a baby six days ago, has proved costly for Ambala jail superintendent. The court of additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) Gurvinder Kaur on Friday directed director general of police (Prisons) to take action against jail superintendent Ratan Singh for non-compliance of her orders dated July 26, where Radha was exempted from appearance.

Rape victim's last letter to decide dera chief's fate
Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's defence is resting on the last letter written to him, as he claims, by one of the rape victims. The dera head said that in her last letter, which she had written in April 2001, the day when she had left the dera, she had not mentioned about the sexual assault and a rape complaint against him was an afterthought.

Kidney racket: Mastermind doctors get 7-yr jail
The CBI special court here on Friday convicted five accused while acquitting another five in the case of a Gurgaon kidney transplant racket that was busted in 2008. Dr Upender Dublesh and Dr Amit Kumar, who was termed a "quack" in no uncertain terms by the court, got seven-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) besides a fine of over Rs 60 lakh each.
