CM Khattar retains Karnal seat

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has retained his Karnal seat. He won by 45, 188 votes over his nearest rival Tarlochan Singh of the Congress.

The ruling BJP, however, is unlikely to repeat its 2014 performance. The party had won 25 seats and was leading in 15 seats at 5:30 pm as per EC website. It had won 47 seats in 2014.

The Congress had won 19 and was leading in 12 seats, debutant JJP had won in 10 seats, INLD had won while Others and Independents had won in six seats.

Only two Khattar ministers manage to retain their seats

Only two ministers in ML Khattar’s cabinet have managed to retain their seats in the Haryana assembly elections. They are health minister Anil Vij who won from Ambala Cantt and public health minister Banwari Lal who won from Bawal reserved seat.

‘Will try our best for a non-BJP govt in Haryana’: Cong leader Kharge

Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that the party has “good numbers” in Haryana and efforts will be made to ensure that a non-BJP government is formed in the state.

His remarks came as no party appeared to be in a position to reach the majority mark of 46 in the 90-member Haryana assembly.

“This indicates that people have a different opinion about the BJP. People thought they will redress the grievances of people. But that was not there and people are shifting away from the BJP,” Kharge told ANI.

Many Khattar ministers trailing after initial rounds of counting

Majority of the outgoing ministers in the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government and key Jat faces of the Haryana BJP are trailing in the initial rounds of counting of votes.

Initial trends indicate that at least eight ministers and over 15 sitting BJP MLAs are training.

JJP could play crucial role in govt formation in case of hung assembly

As per the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, there could be a neck-and-neck fight in Haryana and the state could have a hung assembly. It suggests that the Dushyant Chautala-led JJP may win 6-10 seats and could play a crucial role in the government formation.

As per trends available at 9:35 am, Others were ahead on 14 seats with the JJP leading in 8 seats and INLD in 3 seats. The JJP was formed after a split last year in the Indian National Lok Dal.

Early on Thursday, Dushyant Chautala said that the key to power lies in the hands of the JJP.

Chief Minister ML Khattar, Congress’ BS Hooda leading

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his predecessor Bhupinder Singh Hooda of the Congress are among those who were leading from their respective constituencies, as per the early trends available, reports news agency PTI.

Khattar, a first-time MLA, is seeking re-election from Karnal, while Hooda is seeking re-election from his stronghold Garhi Sampla-Kiloi in Rohtak district.

JJP to be the kingmaker, says Dushyant Chautala

JJP ‘s Dushyant Chautala says the keys of power is in the hands of his party, reports ANI. “Neither BJP nor Congress will cross the 40 seats mark. JJP will play kingmaker,” said Dushyant.

The JJP came into existence after a split last year in the Indian National Lok Dal.

54 candidates in fray for 4 assembly seats in Gurugram district

Re-polling was held in five booths in as many assembly constituencies in Haryana on Wednesday. Three-tier security to guard strongrooms with EVMs

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPAT paper trail machines used in Monday’s election have been kept at 90 strongrooms set up at 59 different locations in the state.

There is a three-tier security system to guard the strongrooms with the central police forces personnel deployed near the strongrooms in the first layer, Haryana Armed Police personnel are posted in the second layer and district police personnel man the outer layer.

Most exit polls predict comfortable win for ruling BJP

Most exit polls have predicted the ruling BJP will retain its hold in Haryana by winning somewhere between 50-75 seats. Times Now exit poll predicted that the BJP will win 71 seats, while the Congress will get 11 seats, while the Republic TV exit polls shows BJP would be ahead with 52-63 seats, and the Congress would follow with 15-19 seats. News channel NewsX’s exit poll showed a similar trend.

In the 2014 assembly election, the BJP got 47 seats , the Congress 15, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) 20 seats and Others 8 seats. The BJP won the Jind bypoll this year, taking its strength to 48 in the 90-member House.

In this year’s Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won all 10 parliamentary seats in the state.
