As of 30 minutes ago, the partial eclipse also concluded for all land areas. 

According to NASA, the next total solar eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia, and a small area of Portugal in August 2026. On the other hand, the contiguous US won't witness a total solar eclipse until August 2044. 

However, before it all came to an end, researchers in Texas noted odd animal behaviour at the Fort Worth Zoo. “Right at totality, all of the (gorillas) got up from all quarters of the exhibit and walked directly to where they're supposed to be let in (at night),” Dr Adam Hartstone Rose, a professor of biological sciences at North Carolina State University told CNN. 

As of 3:46 pm ET, Canada saw the last of totality in Newfoundland. Partial eclipse is expected to persist until 4:47 pm ET.

After travelling across diverse US states, the total eclipse bids adieu. Moving on to take over Canada next, the path of totality will cast a spell of darkness in New Brunswick and Newfoundland provinces. 

The partial eclipse will retain its charm over the US for over an hour before reportedly wrapping up the scene in Maine at 4:41 EDT.

The New York Yankees cancelled their batting practice on Monday. The baseball team was set to go up against the Miami Marlins on April 8, but their game was eventually pushed to Thursday due to the eclipse. 

After reaching totality in Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, the eclipse crossed over the Northeast cities. 

Niagara Falls in New York state plunged into darkness as the eclipse played hide-and-seek with the crowds struggling to see past the clouds. The temperature also took a massive dip accordingly.

A team from the Southwest Research Institute embarked on a unique journey to chase the eclipse using NASA's high-altitude research planes. The aircraft is capturing high-resolution images of the eclipse, focusing particularly on studying dust or asteroids that may be in orbit around our star.

The Planetary Society, led by Bill Nye, observed the partial eclipse in Fredericksburg, Texas, with the moon beginning to move into view from the sun's right side. Fredericksburg was chosen for its central location in the path of totality, expecting over four minutes of total blackout around 1:30 p.m. CT. Known as a dark sky community, Fredericksburg limits its nighttime lighting to enhance stargazing, a distinction shared by only a few towns worldwide. Despite cloudy conditions throughout the day, the sun appeared just before the partial eclipse began. Nye humorously mentioned making calls to the appropriate "authorities."

The Mexican beachside resort town of Mazatlan was the first major viewing spot in North America. Thousands of people gathered along the coastal promenade, setting themselves up in deck chairs with eclipse glasses as an orchestra played the "Star Wars" theme.

 Chasing the Eclipse from the Sky: A team from the Southwest Research Institute is embarking on a unique journey to chase the eclipse using NASA's high-altitude research planes. These aircraft will capture high-resolution images of the eclipse, focusing particularly on studying dust or asteroids that may be in orbit around our star. Alongside, the planes will be equipped with instruments from the University of Hawaii-led team to explore the mysteries of the sun's corona and coronal mass ejections. 

Ham Radio Science Citizen Investigation: In a collaborative effort led by the University of Scranton, ham radio operators across the nation are invited to partake in an intriguing experiment. They will send and receive signals before, during, and after the eclipse, recording the strength and distance of their communications. The goal is to examine the eclipse's impact on the ionosphere, a crucial layer of Earth's upper atmosphere vital for radio communications and navigational systems. 

SuperDARN: Studying Solar Radiation and Space Weather Researchers from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University are utilizing the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) to delve into how solar radiation affects the ionosphere. This investigation aims to provide valuable insights into space weather and its potential impacts on Earth. 

GAVRT Solar Patrol: Monitoring Solar Radio Emissions Scientists from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Lewis Center for Education Research will employ the Goldstone Apple Valley Radio Telescope for the GAVRT Solar Patrol project. Their objective is to measure subtle changes in solar radio emissions as the Moon moves across active regions of the Sun, shedding light on solar dynamics. 

Atmospheric Perturbations along the Eclipse Path: A team led by a University in Daytona Beach plans to launch a series of three rockets from eastern Virginia before, during, and after the eclipse. These rockets will measure changes in electric, magnetic, temperature, and density parameters in Earth's upper atmosphere, offering a comprehensive view of atmospheric perturbations during the celestial event. 

Citizen Science Initiatives In addition to these research projects, NASA has funded three extensive citizen science investigations. These will be executed by hundreds of volunteers nationwide, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of scientific exploration.

Understanding the Sun's influence on our planet is crucial for a variety of reasons, from safeguarding our technological infrastructure to gaining insights into the broader celestial processes that shape our solar system. As the countdown to the total solar eclipse begins, NASA's research endeavors promise to offer a wealth of new knowledge and discoveries, enriching our understanding of the intricate relationship between the Sun and Earth.

Monday’s eclipse is likely to affect air travel across the nation, according to an alert.

“Aircraft should be prepared for potential airborne holding, reroutes, and/or Expect Departure Clearance Times (EDCTs) that may be issued for all domestic IFR arrivals and departures,” the FAA said. “Traffic Management Initiatives (TMIs) are possible. In order to assist FBOs with staging aircraft and to ease ramp congestion, aircraft departing airports along the eclipse path are strongly encouraged to coordinate their departure times as early as possible.”

President Biden took to X to give a message ahead of solar eclipse, "An eclipse is worth marveling at. But don't be silly, folks – play it safe and wear protective eyewear." It's an obvious nod to when former President Donald Trump looked straight at the 2017 solar eclipse without eye protection.

Weatherwise, best spot for viewing the eclipse today is expected to be northern New England, specifically northern portions of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, according to the Weather Prediction Center.

A stretch from Central Arkansas to southern Indiana also could be prime viewing, but this is an area of greater uncertainty due to the potential for high clouds, the Weather Prediction Center said.

In central and southern Texas the sky is overcast and there’s a slight drizzle of rain setting. The scene for what is expected to be a disappointing day for eclipse viewers. San Antonio and Austin reported overcast skies, while Dallas-Fort Worth had mostly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.

The eclipse will first begin partially in the US at 12:23 pm CDT in Dallas, Texas, where the sun will enter totality at 1:40 pm CDT, with the maximum at 1:42 pm CDT. Following Texas, viewers in Idabel, Oklahoma, and Little Rock, Arkansas, will witness the eclipse as it enters the partial phase at 12:28 pm CDT and 12:33 pm CDT, respectively. 

The eclipse will be visible to over 30 million of those residing in the 115-mile-wide path of totality across Mexico, Canada, and the United States, which includes- Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. 

The Texas Eclipse Festival in Burnet was ultimately cancelled due to severe weather conditions. Several weather forecasts signalling the risks of high winds, tornadic activity, large hail, and thunderstorms all through Wednesday have caused the festival to be disbanded ahead of the solar eclipse.

Event officials intimated Texas Eclipse guests through a post stating, “Your safety is our top priority. With the support and coordination of Burnet County officials, local safety agencies, and The National Weather Service, we’ve agreed to end the festival today in a calm orderly manner.” 

In the new announcement, event organisers also claimed that people could stay for the eclipse as long as they were packed and ready to depart after totality.
