Radford University issued a secure-in-place order on Thursday amid an active shooter alert near the campus. The suspects have been described as two black males. One of them is wearing a white shirt and the other one a yellow and red shirt.
“Radford Alert! Main Campus. Urgent: SECURE-IN-PLACE. City reports shooting occurred at the 1400 block of East Main. Avoid the area. Police on scene,” the university said in its first alert on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Radford Alert! Main Campus. Urgent: Per City PD, suspect descriptions: 2 black males 1 w/ dreads white shirt w/ yellow & red, 1 wearing green long sleeved shirt,” the suspects' description read.
The suspects have not been identified yet. It is not clear if anyone was injured.

6 injured, 1 dead following shooting at Florida State University
At least one person was killed and six others were wounded after a shooting at Florida State University on Thursday, ABC News reported citing sources.
A suspect was taken into custody, CNN reported. This comes after the FSU's emergency notification system wrote on social media that "law enforcement has neutralized the threat" - but did not provide more details.
A nearby hospital, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, said in a statement it had received six patients – one in critical condition and the rest in serious condition.
