Melania Trump makes her first appearance at RNC without Donald Trump
Melania Trump made a public appearance after a very very long time at Republican National Convention.
Former first lady Melania Trump has arrived at the Republican National Convention at the Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, alongside her husband, Donald Trump, in a long time.
She was spotted entering the VIP box following Eric Trump's speech.
With Melania taking a backseat this year, other speakers stepped in to share anecdotes that painted Trump in a sympathetic light. For instance, Trump’s 17-year-old granddaughter, Kai Trump, described him as “just a normal grandfather.”
After Trump signed the paperwork formally accepting the GOP nomination, his family, excluding Melania, entered the arena and stood in the family box during a boisterous speech by wrestler Hulk Hogan. Melania entered later, smiling and waving to the crowd as she walked alone into the arena and up the stairs to sit next to vice-presidential nominee JD Vance. She wore a red skirt suit as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 played.
Trump expressed he is ‘deeply honoured to be joined by’ Melania
During his speech, Trump acknowledged his wife, saying, “On this journey, I am deeply honored to be joined by my amazing wife, Melania,” which was met with extended applause. He also praised her for writing a statement pleading for unity after the shooting, stating she “did something really beautiful.”
Melania later joined Trump on stage, surprising him by walking up behind him after his 93-minute speech and whispering in his ear. The rest of the Trump family then joined them, except barron Trumo and balloons fell from the ceiling in a traditional political convention celebration. Some of Trump’s younger grandchildren joyfully played with the balloons.
As the family lingered on stage for about 20 minutes, Melania stood by Trump’s side, occasionally touching his arm and chatting with Vance and his wife, Usha Vance.
Trump's two oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, along with their partners, Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lara Trump, respectively, spoke to delegates earlier in the week.

Daughter Tiffany Trump and her husband, Michael Boulos, were present but did not speak. Barron Trump, the president’s youngest child, did not attend the convention and had declined an invitation to be a Florida delegate.
Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, who held senior roles in Trump’s White House, did not attend his 2022 announcement of another presidential campaign. Ivanka stated at the time, “While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena.”
