Gene Hackman's final postmortem autopsy report has revealed that the Hollywood star had not eaten for a long time before passing away in February.

According to the Office of the Medical Investigator's official report from New Mexico, Hackman's system contained traces of acetone.
Acetone levels in the iconic star's toxicological test were 5.3 mg/dl, which is equivalent to extended fasting, according to Fox News.
The report states that the solvent may function as a “product of diabetic- and fasting-induced ketoacidosis as well as a metabolite following isopropanol ingestion.”
Gene Hackman's autopsy report confirms congestive heart failure
It confirmed Hackman's “history of congestive heart failure” and “severe chronic hypertensive changes” to his kidneys. In addition, the medical investigator's report also mentioned “neurodegenerative features consistent with Alzheimer's disease”.
“Autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with placement of coronary artery stents and a bypass graft, as well as a previous aortic valve replacement.”
“Remote myocardial infarctions were present involving the left ventricular free wall and the septum, which were significantly large. Examination of the brain showed microscopic findings of advanced stage Alzheimer's disease,” the report added.

Hackman tested for carbon monoxide, Hantavirus
Hackman's Hantavirus, a rare rodent-transmitted virus, test result was negative. “Testing for carbon monoxide was less than 5% saturation, in keeping with a normal range,” the medical examiner noted.
At a press conference in March, New Mexico officials had disclosed the causes of death for Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa.
The actor passed away from atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with “advanced Alzheimer's disease”.
According to the autopsy conducted on February 27, he had not eaten recently as no food was found in his stomach.
According to officials, neither Hackman the two time Oscar winner actor, nor Arakawa had symptoms of external trauma. As a result, New Mexico police launched a criminal investigation into their deaths.
His wife died from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), the officials stated.
