Indian-origin prison guard Sashi Cheliah wins Masterchef Australia season 10

Sashi Cheliah, who originally hails from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, has won the Masterchef Australia title, along with a prize money of AUD 250,000 which converts to ₹1.26 crore.

Cheliah, who works as a prison guard in Adelaide in Australia, defeated fellow contestant Ben Borsht and finished with a score of 93 out of 100, according to NDTV.com.
The title winner of the 10th season took to social media to thank his family and fans for the support.
“Hi everyone... thank you very much for the huge support and love from all over world. I am so blessed and honoured. Love you so much...Some exciting new ventures are coming soon so stay tune... My first pop up will start on 17/8 in HWKR Melbourne- Gaja by Sashi,” he wrote.

An Indian Express report said Cheliah had made Sambhal Prawns for starter and a fish curry and cumin rice dish in honour of his aunt for the finale.
The season 10 winner has also served as a police officer in Singapore for 12 years, before he moved to Adelaide six years ago, the NDTV report said.
