Modi govt seeks report after WHO alert on India-made cough syrup in The Gambia

India has started investigation into the claims made by the World Health Organisation over 'contaminated' cold and cough syrups that allegedly led to 66 deaths in The Gambia. The WHO on Wednesday issued a medical product alert over four cough and cold syrups made by Maiden Pharmaceuticals in India. It further added that the India-made syrups could be linked to acute kidney injuries in west African nation. According to Reuters, India's government has asked the WHO to share its report linking the deaths with the cough syrup.
