'Violates constitution...': Why J&K delimitation report was opposed in SC

The Supreme Court has sought a response of Centre, Jammu and Kashmir administration and Election commission of India on a plea challenging the delimitation exercise which recommended the number of seats in J&K Assembly to be raised from 83 to 90. The petition - filed by the residents of J&K - also sought a declaration that the constitution of the Delimitation Commission under the Delimitation Act 2022 is without power, jurisdiction and authority.
