Increased school work, a lack of leisure time, the nuclear family and exposure to the globalised world have left Indian children bereft of the stories from their own cultures, says Anima Chatterjee, 62. On her YouTube channel, Story Time with Ammu and You, Chatterjee engages children with tales from the epics, folk lore and stories by modern Indian writers like Munshi Premchand and Rabindranath Tagore. “I don’t go into morals or lessons, just a story they should love and know,” Chatterjee says. She shares English and Russian folk classics too. Take a look at stories through her eyes
